I always have bananas in the freezer. They take up almost a whole drawer.
I hate hate hate bananas with any kind of brown spots on them. I like my bananas on the green side if anything, but pretty much I wait until they are perfectly yellow. When a spot appears, into the freezer they go.
There are a ton of things you can do with frozen bananas: Breakfast Ice Cream is our current favorite. Smoothies are another good one. And of course, banana bread.
I have never really liked banana bread. So here’s a Banana Bread recipe for you!!! :-)
Well, it’s extremely doctored-up banana bread, so even if you’re not a huge fan – like me – you will like this!
Nutella? check! Peanut Butter? check! Chocolate chips and Reese’s Peanut Butter cups?! check check check!!
Peanut Butter and Banana and Chocolate. Three things that go extremely well together. Don’t you think?

Source: Sally’s Baking Addiction
- 3 very ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1/4 cup canola oil
- 1 egg
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 1/2 cups white whole wheat flour (yes, all purpose is fine)
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup Reese’s mini cups (I followed the recipe but would have added more here… your choice!)
- 1/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (ditto above)
- 3 heaping Tablespoons Nutella (double ditto above)
Preheat oven to 350º. Spray loaf pan with nonstick spray and set aside.
In a large bowl, whisk together bananas, peanut butter, oil, egg and sugars. Set aside.
In a medium bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
Pour dry ingredients into wet ingredients and stir until just combined. Batter will be very thick. Do not overmix!!
Fold in Reese’s mini cups and chocolate chips.
Spread into prepared loaf pan. Drop the tablespoons of Nutella on top and swirl in with a knife.
Bake for about 50 minutes or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. Baking times may vary. This is a large loaf folks!!
Let cool in pan for 10 minutes then remove from pan and finish cooling on a baking rack.
